Temper your antipathy

We hate some people instinctively, even before we are aware of their good qualities.

And sometimes this vulgar, natural aversion is directed towards the eminent.

Let prudence keep it in check : there is nothing more demeaning than to abhor the best people.

It is as excellent to get along with heroes as it is disgraceful to treat them with antipathy.
